SUSTAINABILITY AT THE HEART OF BRAEHEAD

We’re making better choices every day and so are our stores. Cutting waste, saving energy and making the right decisions. We’re all in it together.

WHAT OUT STORES ARE DOING

Our stores are fully committed to sustainability and have a whole host of initiatives that are contributing towards our collective green goals. From recycling boxes to money off when you recycle in-store, they’re on the ball.

Sell your soles at Schuh

Want £5 off* new shoes? Of course you do!
The schuh Sell Your Soles scheme is back! Bring down your old, worn shoes and they’ll give you £5 off your brand-new pair.
You can redeem the voucher straight away in-store.

Too Big For Your Boots

If it’s outgrown kids’ shoes you’re looking to donate, look out for our Too Big For Your Boots initiative in any schuh kids store.

H&M Garment Collecting Program

The H&M Garment Collecting programme is the world’s biggest of its kind – they have garment collecting boxes in all of their stores globally.

Bring your unwanted textiles to H&M and they’ll make sure they get re-worn, reused or recycled. Earn 20 points and a £5 digital voucher.

The Perfume Shop

Did you know that the beautiful chandeliers on The Perfume Shop Braehead have been created from recycled perfume bottles?

Also, if you bring your old perfume bottles into the store, The Perfume Shop will recycle them and give you a discount on your next purchase.

Clarks

Clarks are known for looking after kids’ feet – but what about the Earth they walk on? Clarks are working to make children’s shoe collections more sustainable.

Primark

Let your pre-loved be re-loved.
Primark is making it easier than ever to recycle. With donation boxes in all 190 UK stores, you can drop off clean, unwanted clothes, shoes, bags, and textiles from any brand, in any condition—even towels, bedsheets, and pyjamas.

Whether it no longer fits, can’t be repaired, or just isn’t your style anymore, bring it in. Your old items will be sorted and given a second life-reducing waste and helping build a more sustainable future.

It’s simple, convenient, and good for the planet.

M&S

Marks & Spencer has been around since 1884, and they know how important it is to look to the future. Caring about their impact on the world today and in the future is good business. That’s why in 2007 they launched Plan A, the industry-leading sustainability programme.

In 2021, Marks & Spencer reinvigorated their approach to sustainability as part of their business transformation programme. The aim? To restore the business and brand to deliver long-term, sustainable, profitable growth for their investors, colleagues and wider communities.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Braehead is a large mixed-use retail and leisure centre in Renfrew, Glasgow located on the south bank of the river Clyde, providing an inspiring, attractive, and vibrant destination for locals and visitors to shop, eat, and play.  Braehead is a commercial development located on the former site of Braehead Power Station with a vast array of retail shops, restaurants, cafés, and leisure venues with over 6500 parking spaces. Braehead has established a comprehensive sustainability strategy that includes a commitment to deliver net zero carbon from scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions by 2050, with a proposed interim emissions intensity reduction target of 36% by 2030.

POLICY STATEMENT

We have a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements and recognise that our site activities, and the space we manage, have an impact on the environment and society. Braehead have committed to implement an effective Environmental Management System (EMS) in order to; fulfil compliance obligations, protect the environment, prevent pollution incidents and continually improve the environmental performance of the sites and space under our management.

IMPLEMENTATIONS & KEY OBJECTIVES

Under the leadership of the Centre Management and Operation teams, a dedicated team of personnel have been appointed to maintain and develop the EMS for the site, in partnership with Savills’ Sustainability team.

These teams will work closely with the ESG Committee to implement the objectives of the EMS, and to communicate our environmental and sustainability requirements, goals, and achievements to all stakeholders across Braehead.

During the first year of operation our key objectives include data management and monitoring to establish baseline consumption for all utilities, whilst implementing technologies and operational procedures to successfully become a Net Zero site by 2050.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Centre Director is accountable for the environmental performance and compliance of Braehead.

The Operations Manager is responsible for monitoring, evaluating, reporting, and continually improving the effectiveness of the Environmental Management System.

The entirety of the Braehead team is tasked with the day-to-day implementation of the EMS as it pertains to their individual role, and for ensuring the ongoing compliance of the site with environmental compliance and the ISO 14001 Standard.

This policy is communicated to all team members, service partner contractors, and is made available to the public on the company website. Team members and contractors working for and on behalf of Braehead are expected to read and understand the policy.
